THE U.S. GOVERNMENT'S POWERS!

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT'S POWERS!

(Aljazeera/Frazer Chronicle)

Some people sit and watch and listen, but they never see and they never hear, I call it the "the blind and deaf baby on board syndrome." These people are a curious breed of "kitty cat," at least to me; their devotion to the United States federal government is uncanny. It's as if they believe all the crap that “the fed” dumps on us, as if they, "the fed", can do no wrong.

Actually they’re called conservatives, right wingers, tea baggers.....Republicans, and as Bill Maher calls them, "bubble people." These people really do live in a bubble, in some cases they have absolutely no contact with the world around them.....you know, "the real world."

Every president acquires some new powers during his term(s) in office, some make sense, others might be "out there," making our president resemble a king, rather than a representative elected by the people, mandated by our constitution to basically do our bidding.

This attitude of a monarchy in America isn't new, hasn't started over the past few presidential campaigns or administrations. And it, "the attitude" doesn't usually come from a sitting president, it comes from key people within an administration, advisors who have misguided ideas or flawed thinking about what a democracy is and how it operates.

I don't need my government guarding my safety, I'm perfectly capable of doing that all on my own, we have a standing armed force for any and all of my personal needs with regards to my safety. We have local, regional, state and national law enforcement, we have the Federal Bureau of Investigation and we also have all of the other layers of "law dogs" to protect my rights, so I feel quite safe in my everyday life.

However to give you a bit of an idea of what I'm talking about, in Wisconsin, where I currently reside, there are 14 state enforcement agencies, 72 county, 78 city and 14 college and university law enforcement agencies.

Oh ya, let’s not forget the Department of Homeland Security, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms, the DEA, U.S. Coast Guard, Treasury Bureau Security, the USPS Postal Inspectors, Immigration & Customs and the U.S. Border Patrol. Any and all of these people can cross a state border at any time.....for whatever reason that they say.

As a FREE people we seem to be covered with law enforcement people.....falling over one another. I say "falling over one another" because those usually do not cooperate with each other. Each tentacle of law enforcement seems to have their own agenda, and seem to be keeping their own win-loss record for their own political gain.

Now we come down to United States surveillance powers, where the fed watches and listens to everybody's conversations, e-mails, faxes and letters from certain people to other people. This action comes from my ‘favorite’ ex-President, George W. Bush and his mentor, Dick "please have another heart attack" Cheney.

It's the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, (FISA which was enacted in 1978 following revelations that the government, our government, had been spying on millions of Americans. For decades, J. Edger Hoover and his "boys" had targeted legitimate political oppositions and civil rights activists in the name of defending the country against communism and other security threats.

The FISA act required that the government obtain a warrant before engaging in foreign intelligence-related surveillance of Americans and created a special court and procedures to regulate government activity in this activity. The act was somewhat of a compromise, it provided lenient rules for foreign intelligence gathering and surveillance, and protected individual freedoms through careful limitations on the government's domestic surveillance powers.

In 2008, the Bush administration gutted the compromise act of 1978, why, because we were at war. It's like the 1940's all over again when Japanese, Germans and other foreign peoples were herded into zones where they could be watched, or more easily monitored.

It seems as if, as a people, we are in an almost continual fight to either protect our rights, or our freedoms. And do you know why we have this continual fight.....because as a people, living here in the greatest country on the face of the earth, we don't get involved.....and stay involved.

Don't rely on talk radio, don't watch MSNBC or Fox News Network, read conservative newspapers or publications, read liberal newspapers and publications, listen to people talking, read blogs like mine.....and many others that are out there. Get involved.....and stay involved, don't let some other joker do your fighting. You do your own fighting.

I’m tired.....OVER AND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
